Food Programme

Picture
We provide food parcels to vulnerable community members, and our meals on wheels bakkies deliver meals to our beneficiaries.

Food Parcels

Food Parcels are assembled at our head office with groceries which are donated on a monthly basis by large food companies. Items often include jungle oats, rice, morvite, etc. In addition to these items, sugar, tea, soap, etc. are purchased and added to the items donated in the food parcels. The food parcels are collected by patients or family members from our office, or we delivered them to the elderly and/or bed-ridden patients.

Meals on Wheels

Meals are provided to vulnerable, poor and hungry community members who are identified by our Caregivers during home visits, and to those who visit our office to report their HIV status. Our Cook prepares four 40 litre pots of samp, rice and bone stew with vegetables four days a week. The pots are loaded in two of our bakkies, which go out simultaneously in to two different directions to deliver meals to community members who wait in designated areas with their containers.  Bread-rolls and any other food items donated to the project are also given with the meal (e.g., fruits, vegetables, meat products, etc.).
